A Masjid goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to mosque every Friday.
“I’ve gone for 30 years now,” he wrote, “and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can’t remember a single one of them. So, I think I’m wasting my time and the Imaams are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all.”This started a real controversy in the ‘Letters to the Editor’ column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:
“I’ve been married for 37 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals, But I do know this… They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today.
Likewise, if I had not gone to mosque for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!’ When you are DOWN to nothing…. Allah is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank Allah for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!”

We fall into ruts, we move backwards, we keep tripping instead of running, but help us keep pushing, accept out tiny actions, our little smiles, our miniscule deeds, even if they weren’t performed with complete heart. Ya Allah, we are trying, and you know the sincerity of your slaves. Please help us keep pushing.

Pride because of beauty. One of the cures for this, is the old adage, “beauty is only skin deep”. Beauty is an ILLUSION.
First of all you don’t retain your beauty, EVERYBODY loses it ultimately. Second of all, Allah SWT GAVE it to you, its NOT something you earned.
So being PROUD because of your beauty is a very superficial type of pride & its really a STUPIDITY, if you think about it.
And the other thing that I find really fascinating is, there was a study done on beautiful people, and what they found was that beautiful people were actually AVERAGE.
By that I mean that, they took all these pictures & looked at them & FOUND what people were IDENTIFYING as beautiful.
They found ACTUALLY that people in this culture, that beauty is an AVERAGE, it’s a MEAN when its all put together in one face.
So its an AVERAGE nose, AVERAGE eyes, AVERAGE mouth, but they’re all put together on the SAME face.
I thought that was SO amazing, that beautiful people are AVERAGE LOOKING, it’s a mean.
