SINGAPORE: Of the six full-time madrasahs, four have met the PSLE benchmark this year set by the Ministry of Education.
PLEASE tell me again how the Joint Madrasah System (JMS) is helping the madrasah succeed in the PSLE exams? Three of the non-JMS madrasahs met the MOE's benchmark, at least one of them consistently thru the years.
Two of the JMS madrasahs FAILED to make the mark, one of them consistently. This, despite the fact that the JMS madrasahs are getting more funding and support from MUIS. That includes MUIS senior staff seconded to manage these JMS madrasahs.Funding, I might add, that came from the community.
Indeed, the JMS is a highly DISCRIMINATORY system and the community is indirectly complicit (subhat) in this discrimination.
The JMS is discriminatory because the madrasahs are not getting extra funding and support because of need, or because of their success, but simply because of their membership in JMS.
After 8-9 years of discrimination and pathetic results to show, it's time we get rid of the JMS.
